If you’ve ever longed for an area in your home or apartment where you can sing your brains out without bothering the family or neighbors or them bothering you, then you might already be familiar with the very cool IsoVox portable Vocal Booth. Even if you’re not in the market for a vocal booth, the company also makes a companion product that’s very interesting indeed – the IsoVox IsoMic.

I can hear you thinking, “Just what the world needs – another microphone,” but the IsoMic is unique in a number of ways. The first thing that struck me was its patented triangular capsule that allows it to have a jaw-dropping frequency response of 7Hz to 80kHz! This allows “3x faster recovery movement than a circular, it will minimize its own self coloration and therefore result in a much more detailed and accurate sound recording.” I can’t say if that’s true, but it makes me want to give it a try.

The new microphone was created in conjunction with fellow Swedish company Research Electronics AB, owners of the Ehrlund Microphones brand, which already employs the triangular capsules in its mics.

The second thing is that IsoMic is a really quiet microphone thanks to its low self-noise of <7dB (A), allowing you to take full advantage of the company’s vocal booth or any quiet space. And as you might expect, it’s made especially for voice-over artists and vocalists so the mic also utilizes double pop-removal zones. This includes something called ISOPOP™ as well as a direct integrated filter.

The IsoMic comes with the ISOPOP pop filter and shock mount, and is expected to ship about the time read this. It carries a MAP of $1,299. You can find out more here, or watch one of the most entertaining videos that you’ll ever see about an audio product below.

In case you’re wondering, the IsoVox retails for $999, which is expensive for a portable solution but way cheaper than building a true isolation booth.
