New Music Gear Monday: Waves Brauer Motion Autopanner Plugin
Autopanners are pretty cool in that they can add motion to an element of a mix to make it more interesting. Most autopanners are pretty much a variation on the same theme however, going left to right at either a predetermined speed or dynamically induced by the program material. The new Waves Brauer Motion plugin takes the standard autopanner and sets it on its ear however, as it takes the category to a new level of control.
The Waves Brauer Motion is the brainchild of multi-Grammy winning mixer Michael Brauer (Coldplay, John Mayer, Florence & the Machine, My Morning Jacket, Bob Dylan, Hall & Oates, among many others). It’s unique in that it has two different panners, which can be synced together or used independently. There are 4 different panning modes, 5 trigger modes, parameters for speed, width and depth, a full dynamics section, a motion filter, and even a master section that allows for wet/dry amount and provides the ability to control the gain.
This is by far the most extensive autopanner you’ll ever find, and the good part about that is that while you’re able to program in the usual over-the-top effects, all that control lets you create subtle motions that blend into a track and make it more interesting without being noticeable (a trick of so many hit mixers). Presets are included from top mixers, including Michael Brauer, Dave Pensado, Tony Maserati, Mark Ralph, Ross Hogarth, Tom Elmhirst and Yoad Nevo.
The best part of Brauer Motion is that it’s currently on sale for only $29 instead of its normal $99 price. Like all Waves plugs its available for both Mac and PC host computer systems and just about any DAW platform you can think of. You can find out more info or buy the plugin here, or discover exactly what Brauer Motion will do directly from Michael Brauer in this video.
