New Music Gear Monday: Drawmer S73 Intelligent Master Processor Plugin

Drawmer S73 IMPMultiband compressors are some of the most useful tools you’ll find on a mix buss or for mastering, but many engineers don’t have the patience to set them up correctly. That’s where the new Drawmer S73 Intelligent Master Processor plugin comes in. It takes much of the setup out of the engineer’s hands thanks to a number of finely tunes presets.

The S73 IMP is based on the Drawmer 1973 three band FET-style stereo compressor, but reduces the number of possible parameters from 40 down to just 4. The Amount knob determines the amount of gain reduction that’s applied while the Mix control is a balance control that allows for parallel processing. The Gain control adds the appropriate amount of make-up gain while an Air switch adds some hi-end “air” to the mix. An indicator ladder tells you how much gain reduction is happening, while the dual VU meters indicate the output level. Where the real magic happens is with the Style selector as you can not only select the sound of the compressor, but tweak the spatial and bass characteristics of the mix as well.

The good part is that you don’t have to spend much time tweaking. Just pick a style, dial in the amount and adjust the mix and gain and you’re there.

The Drawmer S73 IMP has an introductory price of just $74 (normally $99) and there’s a free 20 day trial license available. It works on VST, VST3, Audio Units, AAX Native and Console 1 platforms. Check out the dedicated web page and the video below for more details.
