New Music Gear Monday: Free Christmas REV Plate-140 Reverb From Arturia

It’s the Holidays again and the time of year for giving presents. Arturia has one for you with its REV Plate-140 plugin that’s free until December 31st. It’s a very cool emulation of the classic EMT 140 plate reverb that was the sound behind so many hits through the years. Keep in the mind that this is the full version and not a trial, so it’s a great present to put in your DAW stocking.

As you can see, the graphics on the REV Plate-140 are outstanding, duplicating the look and feel of the vintage hardware, minus the 600 pounds of weight.

The plugin is pretty versatile, with 3 models of plate reverb emulation to choose from – Punchy for percussive sounds, Classic EMT, and Modern with enhanced high frequency response. You’re able to control the decay time from 1 to 6 seconds with the plus and minus selectors, control the dry to wet mix with the Blend control, and the stereo spread with the Width control. A Drive control also controls the amount of saturation that you feed the plugin, and it looks very cool as well.

On the bottom panel there’s a Pre-Delay control that goes from 0 to 250ms, a HP Filter from 20 to 750Hz, Modulation with Active, Pre/Post and Amount controls, and a two band variable frequency shelving EQ that goes +/- 24dB.

There’s also a wide variety of presets that are pretty well organized to help you find what you want easily. There’s also a handy resize menu that allows you to resize the plugin to fit your screen, which is very handy (I wish more plugins had this feature).

The REV Plate-140 plugin can be used with any DAW using VST, AAX, or AAU plugins. Again, it’s totally free from Arturia, but only if you create an account and download it by December 31st, 2019.

Have a great Christmas, and enjoy your Christmas reverb!
