My guest today on the podcast is one of the most revered recording engineers in the world today. Al Schmitt has won 22 Grammys, worked on 160 gold and platinum albums, and even received his own star on Hollywood’s famous Walk of Fame.
Al has worked with so many of the real legends in the music business, including Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Sam Cooke, Jefferson Airplane, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Toto, Bob Dylan, Steely Dan, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Diana Krall, Celine Dion, Paul McCartney, and hundreds more.
His new book is called Al Schmitt On The Record: The Magic Behind The Music (written with Maureen Droney), and it covers his 6 decades in the business. It even has a forward written by Sir Paul McCartney himself.
