We don’t think about it very much, but a computer keyboard is our central and most used input device in our every day professional lives. If you’re like me you probably quietly suffer with the keyboard that came with your current computer, or maybe you have an old one that you really like that is quickly breaking down or falling behind technologically. The search for that perfect keyboard can a long one, since it has to have both feel and function. If it looks good it’s a bonus. That’s where the Kolude KD-K1 computer keyboard comes in as it ticks all those boxes and more.

The Kolude KD-K1 is a sleek aluminum keyboard with the much-preferred scissor key switches for a feel that many users prefer over Apple’s butterfly switches. It will remind you of the typical Apple keyboard that comes with Mac Pro’s and iMac’s except for the fact that the keys are round. It’s definitely Mac-centric in that it has a Command key, but it can be used with any Windows or Android device as well. So far, not too different from the norm.

Where this keyboard sets itself apart is that it’s also a powerful USB-C hub. On the rear of the device you’ll find 2 USB-C ports (capable of up to 100watts), an HDMI output that can support up to a 4k monitor, both SD and mini-SD card readers, 3 USB-3 ports and a USB-2 port. In other words, it eliminates the need for dock that everyone with a USB-C computer needs to connect to the outside world.

The super-thin keyboard is also backlit, provides multiple language support, and is available in silver or space gray.

Kolude is in the middle of what’s already a super-successful Kickstarter campaign, as it has already topped its campaign goal by 800%. Although the first reward tier is already sold out, you can still purchase a unit for discounted price of $109, which also features a 36% discount on future Kolude products, among other perks. Other reward tiers are also available.

Although Kolude states that it won’t be shipping until June, it’s already shipped quite a few as you’ll see multiple unboxing videos already on YouTube.

If you’re looking for a USB-C hub or want to get rid of one, this keyboard may be your answer. Check it out on Kickstarter or watch the video below.
