New Music Gear Monday: Acon Digital Remix Track Separation Plugin

Have you ever had what you thought was the perfect mix, only to think after living with it, “I wish the vocals were just a little louder,” or “I wish the drums were a little less prominent”? While that’s usually not a problem with something that we just mixed since all it takes is a little tweak in the DAW, it’s a lot different with a song that was mixed even a few years ago, as so much might have changed with your workstation, plugins or outboard gear that you’ll never get the exact same mix back. Stems

Remix separates a stereo mix into five stems: vocals, piano, bass, drums, and other. Other is a catch-all stem for instruments that don’t fit into the other categories. There’s a level control, solo, mute and Sensitivity control for each stem. Sensitivity controls the amount of leakage on a particular track.

What’s even better is that Remix also has 5 separate outputs that can be routed to 5 tracks of your DAW. This allows you to add additional processing like EQ or compression, or effects in the case of a track that was originally too dry.
