New Music Gear Monday: PSP InfiniStrip FIRE Plugin
If you like to use a lot of plugins, there will come a time when you’re going to run out of processing power. That means you’ll either have to disable a few plugins or try to squeeze in some native processors that you might not like but don’t take up much computer power to get the job done. Plugin developers have realized this problem and many have countered with plugin containers where you can fill in the slots with their processors like a virtual 500 rack, but they only count as one plugin when it comes to computer horsepower. The clever boffins at PSP Audioware have come up with their own version of this idea with the InfiniStrip FIRE, but have taken the concept another step with a set of great new modules for it as well.
PSP InfiniStrip is an infinitely configurable channel strip plugin that can be used for not only for mixing but for tracking too since it adds zero latency to the signal. There are 7 dedicated “slots” for you to add one module from each processor category type, and 2 flexible insert slots for any module type.
To fill the slots, you can choose from 22 independent processors divided into 8 types of modules (preamps, filters, compressors, equalizers, limiters, dynamic modules – expander, ducker and gate-, control and special modules) to create your custom channel strip.
There are 17 brand new modules ranging from 5 new preamps, 3 new filters, 3 new expander/gates, 2 new compressors, a new equalizer, and a new master control module. There are also a new de-esser and de-hummer modules as well. Each module also has independent external side-chain support, and can be configured for either mono or stereo.
InfiniStrip provides 3 different view modes (full, resizeable, and mini view mode) designed for different workflows and screen sizes. It also comes with over 150 presets designed by some of the top sound engineers from around the world.
Like all PSP plugins, InfiniStrip FIRE is available for all computer platforms and all plugin formats. It’s normal price is $199 but it’s currently on sale for $149.
